Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Production Scheduler to join our team at Motor Specialty, Inc. As the Production Scheduler, you will play a critical role in coordinating and optimizing production schedules to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. You will collaborate with various departments to manage resources effectively, maintain inventory levels, and address production challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, capacity, and material availability.
- Adjust schedules to accommodate changing priorities, machine downtime, or urgent orders.
- Resource Coordination:
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
- Communicate with shop floor supervisors to allocate workforce and equipment efficiently.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track production progress and identify bottlenecks or delays.
- Generate reports on production metrics, including on-time delivery, capacity utilization, and inventory levels.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline scheduling processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
- Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between sales, procurement, and operations to align production schedules with customer demands.
- Communicate schedule changes promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure schedules align with quality standards and production goals.
- Address and resolve scheduling conflicts while maintaining adherence to company policies.
Minimum Requirements
- Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is a plus.
- Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in production scheduling or planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and scheduling software.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic production environment.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kanban, Just-in-Time) is highly desirable.
